Pandion and researchers from the University of Florida IFAS SFRC teamed up and won 3 contracts to coordinate springs basin working groups and develop restoration plans for Ichetucknee, Rainbow, and Silver springs in north and central Florida. The contracts were awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and will be overseen by the Springs Initiative.

The inaugural field season of the Shrub-Nesting Passerine Collaborative bore its first scholarly fruit on February 10, 2010, in San Diego, CA, in a presentation given at the joint annual meeting of three of North America’s largest Ornithology societies: “Effects of wind turbine proximity and other variables on the reproductive success of shrub-nesting passerines." We are excited to announce that Fire in Florida’s Ecosystems (FIFE) is back up and running! You can sign up to participate in many new ways. Thanks to the Florida Division of Forestry, these free FIFE workshops will return in the spring of 2010.
FIFE is a curriculum and educator training program that gives teachers the information and tools to teach about fire in Florida. This program began in 1999 and has reached over 2,700 educators in more than 90% of Florida counties.

Pandion and KidWind launched WindWise Education at the annual conference of the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) on November 2, 2009. WindWise Education is a comprehensive curriculum for grades 6 to 12 that explores the dynamic field of wind through hands on physics, engineering, biology, math, and earth science activities.
