Pandion will be exhibiting at WINDPOWER 2010 in Dallas next week. We will be at booth #11847, ReBAT™ booth #11847a, and The KidWind Challenge in the outdoor demonstration area. We hope to see you there.

Specializing in both onshore and offshore wind projects, we work with industry, government, and nonprofits to resolve wind-wildlife issues through studies, research, facilitation, and community outreach.

Our team of bird and bat biologists and communication specialists provides science, ecology, and communications services both domestically and internationally.

Innovative Solutions for Wind Energy

As a leader in wind-wildlife interactions and education and outreach, we are focused on finding innovative solutions for wind development. Here are some of our recent wind energy solutions.

  • ReBAT™ – A remote acoustic monitoring tool designed for wind facilities. This full spectrum tool allows for improved species identification, including Indiana Bats.
  • PreBAT TK™ –  Kits that prepare met towers for a quick transition to acoustic monitoring stations, without the expense of lowering the tower. This maintains decision-making flexibility and responsiveness at a low cost.
  • WindWise Education™ – A comprehensive wind energy curriculum for 6th-12th grade students. We developed this program in partnership with the KidWind Project.
  • Avian Offshore Wind Technology – New techniques for conducting avian risk assessments at offshore wind facilities (Minerals Management Service).
  • Avian and Bat Post-Construction Monitoring – More accurate and scientifically defensible methods to estimate post-construction mortality (California Energy Commission) and fragmentation effects (Shrub-Nesting Passerine Collaborative).
  • GIS and Mapping – Models that predict bird and bat collisions in the central U.S. wind corridor (U.S. Department of Energy) and estimate collision mortality for Bald Eagles at a Maine wind farm.

Meet us at WINDPOWER 2010

We would like to meet you if you are attending WINDPOWER 2010, so please let us know if you want to schedule a time. You can also find our staff at the following locations.

  • Pandion booth #11847 and ReBAT™ booth #11847a will have our hugely popular Got Bats? buttons along with demonstrations of our bird and bat technologies.
  • Christine Denny will be presenting Becoming WindWise: Increasing Community Support and Understanding of Wind Energy through K-12 Education in the Wednesday morning session on Moving the Workforce Forward with Education (May 26th, 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM).
  • Pandion is co-producing The KidWind Challenge at WINDPOWER in the outdoor demonstration area. Come by to build and test your own turbine designs or watch students compete.
