The
Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway
Recreation Management
Handbook
University of Florida, School of Forest Resources and Conservation
Pandion designed a Recreation Management
Handbook for The Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway (CFG)
. The handbook builds on research and management experience from
the past three decades to identify and describe alternative management
techniques to address visitor-caused impacts.
The purpose of the
handbook is twofold: (1) to provide resource managers with a
step-by-step, easy to use process for identifying and defining
unacceptable impacts
to biological and cultural resources and to visitor experiences,
and (2) to identify a range of strategies and tactics that managers
can use to address these impacts.
The strategies detailed and outlined
in the handbook include ecological and recreation monitoring, visitor/social
studies, and natural
resource studies. The handbook contains worksheets designed to
assist land managers with recreation management as well as provide
a project record and documentation of their decision-making process.
