Wekiva National Wild and Scenic River Management Plan
Friends of the Wekiva River, Inc.

Pandion Systems is preparing a Comprehensive Management Plan for the Wekiva National Wild and Scenic River. Much of the work for this began in March 2007 and is scheduled for completion by February 2008.

The Wekiva River was formally recognized by the U.S. Congress for the following 5 outstanding values:

  • Scenic Vistas
  • Recreation Opportunities
  • Wildlife and Habitat
  • Cultural and Historic Resources
  • Water Quality and Quantity

Community Workshop
An important step in developing the plan is to create a forum for public dialogue so that interested citizens can have input. The community workshop will be held at Wekiwa Springs State Park on September 26th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 p.m. at the Youth Camp Meeting Hall. View a press release with more information about this meeting.
