Exotic Plant Management
Pandion
Team members are experienced in invasive exotic plant management
in Florida's natural areas. The Pandion team specializes
in complex Invasive Exotic Plant Management (IEPM) control and
research projects that require a high degree of an ecological
proficiency
and experience.
Pandion's team of ecologists, botanists,
and former public land managers provide both the practical
knowledge and experience in managing exotic plant issues on
large tracts of public lands as well as the depth of scientific
background
to address the other ecological values within the landscape.
Pandion IEPM staff are knowledgeable about Florida's natural systems,
including:
-
Differentiating
between the exotics and look alike natives
-
Identifying
rare species
-
Awareness
of sensitive features (e.g., sinkholes and water bodies)
Pandion IEPM staff use ecological-based planning, this
includes:
- Taking maximal
advantage of plant life histories
- Careful selection of staging
areas and access routes
- Selection of treatment methods
that achieves a balance between
control and non-target impacts.
Pandion also has the capability
to conduct the following:
- Research/herbicide efficacy protocols

outreach campaigns to address public perception
of invasive exotic plants.
- Pesticide risk assessment

parakeet biology
and their management.
Pandion
has been conducting research on the biology and control of
monk parakeets since
2000 and understands the issues associated with this invasive
species. Results of this research
